Volunteer Content Creator

About the Media Education Society

The Media Education Society is a 501(c)(3) public charity rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, dedicated to promoting media literacy education through the lens of the common good. We believe media literacy is essential for faith formation, informed citizenship, personal agency, and community resilience. Our apostolic movement empowers individuals and communities with the skills to discern, navigate, and create media that upholds their Judeo-Christian values.

Position Summary

The Media Education Society is seeking mission-driven, creative volunteers to serve as Content Creators. In this role, you will help shape the public face of our apostolate by crafting compelling, mission-aligned content that educates audiences, inspires donors, and highlights the impact of faith-based media literacy.

You will create a range of content—including short-form posts, long-form articles, donor communications, educational materials, and more—to engage different audiences: Catholic educators, parents, young adults, pastors, and philanthropic supporters. This is a meaningful opportunity to combine your writing talents with your love for the Church and the media apostolate.

Key Responsibilities

Content Development
• Research, write, and edit content that supports the mission and messaging of the Media Education Society.
• Create short-form content (social media captions, blurbs, email copy) and long-form pieces (articles, blog posts, educational guides).
• Assist with donor-facing content such as campaign letters, case statements, and impact stories.
• Produce clear, engaging content that translates complex media literacy topics into accessible, values-based resources.

Collaborative Communication
• Work closely with leadership and other volunteers to align content with our faith-based voice and strategic goals.
• Support special projects, seasonal campaigns, or topic-specific initiatives as needed.
• Help ensure consistency across platforms and audience segments.

Mission Stewardship
• Uphold our commitment to truth, charity, and clarity in all public-facing content.
• Contribute ideas that reflect Catholic tradition while resonating with contemporary media challenges.

Who You Are

• A practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the Church’s teachings and social mission.
• Passionate about media, communications, and culture—especially from a faith-based lens.
• Experienced or gifted in writing, editing, or developing content for print or digital audiences.
• Skilled at tailoring messages to different readers (e.g., educators, donors, parishioners, parents).
• Self-motivated, organized, and responsive to deadlines.
• Background in journalism, education, theology, communications, or nonprofit writing is helpful—but not required.
