About the Media Education Society

The Media Education Society is a 501(c)(3) public charity rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, dedicated to promoting media literacy education through the lens of the common good. We believe media literacy is essential for faith formation, informed citizenship, personal agency, and community resilience. Our apostolic movement empowers individuals and communities with the skills to discern, navigate, and create media that upholds their Judeo-Christian values.

Position Summary

The Media Education Society is seeking a creative, mission-aligned Volunteer Social Media Manager to help grow our digital presence and amplify our message. This role is ideal for someone who understands the power of media to evangelize, educate, and inspire—someone who is excited to share our resources, mission, and impact across social platforms in a way that is both faithful and engaging.

You will be responsible for managing our social media content calendar, scheduling and posting content, engaging with followers, and helping to expand our online reach to communities hungry for truth, media literacy, and faith-centered conversation.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Scheduling
• Draft, design, and schedule posts across key platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn) using mission-aligned voice and tone.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to highlight programs, blog posts, news, volunteer stories, and campaign efforts.
• Repurpose newsletter, blog, and video content into compelling, shareable social media pieces.

Engagement & Growth
• Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions with charity and professionalism.
• Research and implement hashtags and trends relevant to Catholic media, education, and nonprofit engagement.
• Suggest creative strategies for growing reach and follower engagement within a Catholic and values-driven audience.

Collaboration & Reporting
• Coordinate with leadership on campaign goals, style guidelines, and brand consistency.
• Provide monthly updates on metrics such as follower growth, post reach, and engagement.
• Attend virtual check-ins (monthly or as needed) to share ideas and assess needs.

Who You Are

• A practicing Catholic with a strong alignment to the values of Catholic Social Teaching.
• Passionate about digital evangelization, communications, and media reform.
• Experienced in using social media platforms for professional, ministry, or organizational purposes.
• Comfortable using Canva for basic graphic tools and scheduling.

• Creative, responsive, and detail-oriented with a heart for service.
• Previous experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or social media management is helpful—but not required.
