| FAITH & MEDIA

The intersection of faith and media offers opportunities to address ethical questions, promote social justice, and encourage dialogue. The Media Education Society equips individuals to engage with media through a faith-based lens, empowering communities to uphold values that strengthen the social fabric. This exercise enriches public discourse and nurtures mutual respect, ensuring that faith-informed perspectives positively impact the media landscape, upholding integrity and compassion.

| MEDIA AND THE COMMON GOOD

Advancing media education for the common good is at the heart of the Media Education Society’s mission, deeply rooted in Catholic social teaching. Guided by principles like human dignity, solidarity, and preferential option for the poor, we strive to transform media consumers into powerful agents of change. We seek to create a more just and compassionate society, in which media not only informs and entertains but also uplifts and unites. We work to ensure that every aspect of media reflects and promotes core Judeo-Christian values, serving as a true conduit for the common good.

| CHILDREN'S MEDIA LITERACY

media mediation for kids

Advancing children’s media literacy is crucial as young minds are ever more exposed to a flood of narratives from media conglomerates mainly driven by profit goals. We equip children with the technical knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to navigate media responsibly. We empower children to discern truth, recognize biases, and engage with content in a healthy, informed way. Becoming media literate, children will acquire a foundation that not only protects them from misinformation and harmful influences but also encourages them to be thoughtful, active participants in society.

| TRAINING THE TRAINERS

teacher training in media

Our “Training the Trainers” programs are vital to the Media Education Society’s mission of integrating media literacy with Judeo-Christian values. We equip parents, teachers, catechists, religious, and lay leaders alike with the tools to guide their communities in critical media literacy, empowering them to bridge the gap between their media use and their faith. Once trained, these leaders propel a ripple effect in their communities, helping people become better informed and strengthened in their commitment to living out their values in a media-driven world.

| MEDIA LITERACY RESEARCH

We support ongoing media literacy research and partner with scholars and universities to ensure that our programs are grounded in the latest scientific insights and best practices. This collaboration allows us to continuously refine our approach to teaching media literacy, making it more effective and relevant to diverse audiences. Research-driven initiatives enable us to equip individuals with the tools to critically engage with media, produce content that reflects their values, and contribute to a better informed and more just society. Through these partnerships, the Media Education Society remains at the forefront of media literacy education, empowering communities to engage the media with purpose and integrity.
